New Garage Door designs

The residential garage door market place is changing and evolving every day. Manufactures are adding more products and designs at an alarming rate. Is this too much for the industry or is more better?

As the consumer's taste becomes more astute, you would think the manufactures would move to support this trend. However in the garage door industry there seems to be no clear direction. Some manufactures continue to bring new products to the marketplace with little or no consumer demand. Others refuse to even update old product lines and they seem to rely on loyalty and price to maintain their customer base.

The later has not proved to be much of a success, but on the other hand too many products can not only confuse the buyer, but the door dealer (re-seller) as well. Door dealers want to offer the consumer more choices then chocolate and vanilla, but they don't want all 32 flavors either!

Sears Roebuck figured this out many years ago. They offered their customers 3 choices...good, better and best. To take this to the next logical level would be to offer maybe 3 choices in the good category and 3 in the better category and so on. However the garage door industry seems to have 32 choices in all the flavors.

Just one man's opinion.
